Wellan is an engineering and additive manufacturing company based in Philadelphia, Pa. Having mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering backgrounds Wellan can tackle all design and engineering challenges when designing customized parts and equipment.

FFF Materials

FFF materials are extruded thermoplastics ranging in use from prototyping to end-use parts. These materials come standard, performance, food safe, ESD, or filled with additives to increase strength and durability. Read below to see our full list of materials. PLA

PLA is an inexpensive material great for prototyping and no mechanical load applications. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • PLA
  • Performance PLA

  • Food Safe PLA
  • Carbon Fiber PLA (8% filled)

ABS

ABS is an inexpensive material and one of the most injection molded plastics in the world. This material is great for prototyping injection molded parts and light load end use applications. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • ABS
  • ESD ABS

ASA

ASA is an inexpensive material very similar to ABS however, it has the added benefit of being UV resistant. We currently offer support for the following materials:

PETG

PETG is an inexpensive material similar to ABS however, it has the added benefit of being resistant to numerous solvents and UV. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • PETG
  • Performance PETG
  • ESD PETG
  • Food Safe PETG

TPU

TPU is a flexible material used for applications where more rigid materials won’t succeed. This material is offered in different grades of shore hardness. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • TPU 75D
  • TPU 85A
  • TPU 90A
  • TPU 90A (Conductive)
  • TPU 95A

PC

PC also known as Polycarbonate is an engineering plastic. This material is quite strong with a higher heat deflection temperature and chemical resistance. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • PC
  • Performance PC
  • ESD PC

Nylon

Nylon is an engineering plastic suitable for end use parts. Nylon has great impact, heat deflection, and chemical resistance properties. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • Nylon (Copolymer mix 6, 66)
  • Glass Filled Nylon Copolymer 6 (25% filled)
  • Carbon Fiber Nylon Copolymer 6 (20% filled)
  • Carbon Fiber Nylon Copolymer 12 (10% filled)
  • Carbon Fiber High Temperature Nylon (25% filled)

Carbon Fiber Filled Materials

Filling a material with carbon fiber increases the materials rigidity, strength, dimensional accuracy, and heat deflection temperature. Producing parts with a carbon fiber filled material is great for applications that need an increase in material characteristics  across the board. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • Carbon Fiber PLA (8% filled)
  • Carbon Fiber Nylon Copolymer 6 (20% filled)
  • Carbon Fiber Nylon Copolymer 12 (10% filled)
  • Carbon Fiber High Temperature Nylon (25% filled)

ESD

ESD is an acronym for “electrostatic discharge”. This label is applied to certified materials that will come into contact with vital electronics that can not be exposed to electrostatic build up. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • ESD PLA
  • ESD ABS
  • ESD PETG
  • ESD PC

PVB

PVB is a unique material for its chemical intolerance to IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol). Due to this characteristic PVB based materials can be smoothed using an IPA mist. This gives the ability to hide layer lines for different applications. We currently offer support for the following materials:

  • PLA-Like Smooth-able
  • Investment Casting Smooth-able
